Job Summary

We are looking for an Asset Inspector to join the team. You will undertake condition assessments & inspections of a fascinating variety of landside and marine assets, such as buildings, bridges, roadways, piers, quays and breakwaters.

You will contribute the continued safe operation of Port assets by:

planning & undertaking inspections independently or with other Asset Inspectors, arranging appropriate & safe means of access.

preparing & reviewing risk assessments and method statements for inspections, working collaboratively with Port Stakeholders to plan and agree access in a timely manner, minimising disruption to operations.

preparing inspection reports, recording defects & condition of assets, and suggesting recommendations for maintenance & repair,

uploading documented outputs and instigating recommendations into the Ports electronic asset management system.

You will also help supervise consultants and contractors undertaking minor construction, maintenance or survey works to ensure they are working safely and to specification.

We will support you with training and guidance on how to assess the condition of assets and appropriate means of repair, including the use of innovative technology.

We would also consider somebody on a part-time basis or a job share

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 x GCSEs minimum grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics
  • HNC in Civil Engineering, Building Surveying, or similar construction related discipline or Trade apprenticeship to a minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent Vocational Training.
  • Prior experience of undertaking asset condition inspections is desired but not essential.
  • Full driving licence and use of own transport.
  • Physically fit, ability to work at heights, from ladders or working platforms, over/on water, in confined spaces and in varying weather conditions.
