About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Divisional Director to lead our Technical Solutions business in the UK. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of our operations and ensuring the delivery of our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure compliance with all safety, security, environmental, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by our company, our clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Strategic Leadership: Deliver the strategy and deploy operational and customer excellence, ensuring day-to-day and future operations with tactical decisions aligned with business goals.
  • Financial Management: Fully responsible for the financial performance of your division, actively controlling revenue, profit, and debt management.
  • Operational Efficiency: Streamline operational efficiencies to meet and surpass on-time delivery targets and implement improved operating procedures.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and control the operations and services at all locations within the division.
  • Client Relationships: Maintain and promote positive relationships with client representatives.
  • Resource Management: Ensure operations and related services at all locations within the division are provided with the necessary equipment, assets, people, and processes.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and clients to ensure monitoring of and fulfillment of performance requirements and reporting.
  • Performance Management: Review operational performance metrics with the clients and internal team.
  • Business Development: Deliver and implement business strategic objectives annually and measure and review performance against goals for direct reports and the wider team.
  • Talent Management: Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with all team members.
  • Training and Development: Responsible for training and mentoring all direct reports and wider teams.
  • Compliance: Oversee hiring and performance management of general and regional managers and account managers within the division.
  • Collaboration: Support, work with, and agree with Shared Services necessary support direction and resources as part of the Enterprise business approach.
  • Financial Planning: Prepare for and participate in weekly leadership calls within Technical Services UK and wider UK businesses as part of the UK leadership team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster collaborative working across all IG's and promote new technology, data reporting, and innovation to support the growth and sustainment of the business.
  • Risk Management: Prepare for and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reviews for the operational business.
  • Divisional Planning: Ensure that planned profits of the division are realised through effective financial controls, forecasting, and management.
  • Proposal Development: Responsible for the delivery of proposals and risk management in response to RFPs and other bids within the business in conjunction with Commercial and Sales teams.
  • Sales and Marketing: Participate and/or lead in sales and operational presentations to clients as well as building organic growth of present customers.
  • Cash Management: Ensure all accounts are timely paid and up to date managing cash collection flows and aged debt.
  • Compliance Training: Oversee the compliance training programmes at each operation within the division and ensure that all training documents are properly maintained in training files or databases.
  • Client Engagement: Ensure an active client engagement programme and follow-up actions is maintained within the division.
  • Business Development Growth: Supporting business development growth, identifying potential mergers and acquisition (M&A) and large-scale TUPE's within region in conjunction with Commercial.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering discipline – RICS/Ba/HND/HNC/C&G.
  • Experience: Proven experience of at least 5 years as an operations director, divisional director, or other senior managerial position.
  • Leadership: Precious experience of managing geographically diverse teams.
  • Strategic Planning: Demonstrable experience in delivering strategic growth and financial business plans.
  • Transformational Change: Proven track record of driving and delivering transformational change.
  • Market Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that may influence the business.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiar with H&S, Security, and Corporate law and management best practice.
  • Commercial Awareness: Commercially and business astute with an entrepreneurial and enquiring mindset previously held P&L responsibility in excess of £5m per annum.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral presentation skills as well as organisational skills.
  • Leadership Qualities: Natural, charismatic people leader with the ability to operate and influence at all levels and strong desire to progress as an individual.
  • Resilience: Highly resilient with the ability to react quickly to change in a fast-moving, complex business.
  • Decision-Making: Proven track record of being able to make fast and sound business decisions.
  • Problem-Solving: Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
  • Business Qualification: Business qualification such as an MBA.
  • Safety Programme: Completed Senior Executive Programme for IOSH or similar safety programme.
