Job Description

The Service & Team:

Working within the Children and Families Service in Children's Social Care, the successful applicant will join our residential services to meet the needs of children and young people who are in the care of the Local Authority and who may have experienced abuse and trauma.

The Registered (Home) Manager has operational responsibility for the children's home and ensuring quality standards are maintained. The post-holder will be expected to register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager (as set out in the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015) on completion of their 'fit person' interview. The postholder will assume legal accountability for the satisfactory operation of the home in line with Ofsted requirements.

Supported by a Service Manager (the Responsible Individual), the successful applicant will have previous experience of managing a Children's Home, working with multi-disciplinary teams, and leading and managing residential care workers.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

The usual working pattern is Monday to Friday; however, a flexible working approach is taken to meet the needs of the residents and staff.

The successful applicant will be educated to NVQ level 5 with a willingness to undertake further academic studies and/or training to enhance the service understanding and capacity to respond to the complex needs children and young people may present with.

  • Ensure the home meets the required quality standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of residential care workers.
  • Work collaboratively with the Service Manager and multi-disciplinary teams.
