Climax Studios is a leading creative force in the independent games development industry, renowned for its exceptional line of top-published titles. Our harbourside studio in Portsmouth, England, offers an exciting and inspiring place to work.

We are seeking a seasoned and multi-talented Lead Artist to conceive, create, and lead a team in crafting innovative experiences through artistic visuals for AAA titles. A proven track record of generating a diverse range of styles, technical expertise with current-gen technology, and/or illustration skills are highly valued.

This role requires on-site work.

Key Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in console development, with at least 2 shipped titles and one as a Lead Artist.
  • Effective visual and verbal communication skills for directing internal or external teams or individuals.
  • Excellent resource management and judgement in assigning artists with varying skill sets to numerous projects.
  • Comfortable liaising with and presenting to clients in an authoritative and professional manner.
  • A self-motivated team leader who is outgoing, friendly, gregarious, with attention to detail, and a passion for delivering the best game experience.
  • Autonomous in managing deadlines and budgets, with excellent time management skills.
  • Experience in managing art teams effectively and in a timely fashion.
  • 2-3 years of experience in developing and implementing solid art production pathways.
  • The ability to find creative solutions when troubleshooting and assessing risks.
  • A good understanding of cutting-edge artistic techniques and tools, and the ability to implement them into current practices.
