Lead Artist Opportunity at Freejam

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Artist to join our team at Freejam, a fully independent game development studio. As a Lead Artist, you will be responsible for leading our art team in the creation of high-quality visual assets for our upcoming game, Robocraft 2.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive art style across the game, including in-game content, promotional materials, and marketing assets.
  • Manage and mentor a team of artists, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the resources and equipment needed to succeed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure art assets meet the required standards and are delivered on time.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve our art processes and workflows.
  • Effectively communicate with the team and stakeholders to ensure everyone is aligned with the art vision and goals.
Requirements
  • At least one published title or AAA games experience.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading a distributed team of artists.
  • Expertise in hard-surface modeling and texturing to AAA standards.
  • Experience with environment art, landscape, foliage, and prop asset creation.
  • Knowledge of Unity HDRP lighting, atmospherics, post-processes, and PBR materials.
  • Understanding of building shaders with node graphs such as Unity Shader Graph.
  • Proficiency in Maya, Photoshop, Substance, Illustrator, XD, Speedtree, and ZBrush.
  • A keen eye for detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building a positive and inclusive team culture.
