Lead Artist Opportunity at Freejam

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Artist to join our team at Freejam, a fully independent game development studio. As a Lead Artist, you will be responsible for leading our art team in the creation of high-quality visual assets for our upcoming game, Robocraft 2.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive art style across the game, including in-game content, promotional materials, and marketing assets.
  • Manage and mentor a team of artists, ensuring they have the necessary resources and training to produce high-quality work.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure art assets meet the required standards and deadlines.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, and implement new techniques and tools to improve art quality and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • At least one published title or AAA game experience.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading a distributed team of artists.
  • Expertise in hard-surface modeling, texturing, and environment art to AAA standards.
  • Experience with Unity HDRP lighting, atmospherics, post-processes, and PBR materials.
  • Strong understanding of building shaders with node graphs, such as Unity Shader Graph.
  • Familiarity with Maya, Photoshop, Substance, Illustrator, XD, Speedtree, and ZBrush.
  • Excellent organization and project planning skills, with a respect for deadlines.
  • Pro-active team player, able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
