Animal Centre Deputy Manager

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Centre Manager to join our team at the RSPCA Newport Animal Centre. As a key member of our management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the centre and providing exceptional care for the animals in our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Animal Welfare: Ensure adherence to animal welfare standards and procedures for intake, assessment, and rehoming.
- Health and Safety: Oversee the health and safety of staff, volunteers, and the public, conducting inductions, and addressing safety incidents.
- HR and Recruitment: Recruitment, training, and supervision of staff, including implementing HR policies and ensuring staff are supported through regular evaluations and personal development plans.
- Administrative Duties: Manage paperwork, records, and external correspondence, as well as the security and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Fundraising and Publicity: Collaborate with the Centre Manager to promote fundraising opportunities and engage with the media.
- Fostering Management: Recruit and manage fosterers and their associated responsibilities.
Requirements
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
- Full manual driving licence (subject to reasonable adjustments).
- Animal handling and husbandry experience.
- People/line management experience.
- Conflict management experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Diploma level 2 or equivalent or equivalent qualification in animal care.
- Health and safety qualification e.g. IOSH certificate or diploma.
