Research Opportunities at The Francis Crick Institute

We are seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory Research Scientist to join our team at the Francis Crick Institute. This is a full-time, permanent position on Crick terms and conditions of employment.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity involves leading a substantial research project in the Tissue Regeneration and Clonal Evolution (TRCE) lab focused on applying cutting-edge gene editing technologies to explore mechanisms of tissue regeneration. You will work closely with members of the Human Biology Facility (HBF) gene editing team to support relevant projects within the institute.

The role of a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist at the Crick is diverse and rewarding, covering a wide range of functions and allowing for continuity of lab operations. You will provide technical expertise for the development, refinement, and troubleshooting of relevant or novel methodologies for the TRCE lab and HBF.

  • Devising and leading gene editing projects within the TRCE research program
  • Providing technical and research expertise to assist in projects of other research groups
  • Establishing new methodologies in the lab
  • Maintaining laboratory organisation and supplies
  • Training and supporting lab members in standard operating procedures
  • Facilitating collaborations within and outside the Crick
  • Providing technical and research support in human stem cell biology
  • Human cell engineering using CRISPR/Cas gene editing
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have a PhD in cell biology, genetics, genomics, or a relevant scientific discipline. You should also have substantial experience in gene editing using iPS/ES cells, primary cells, and/or in vivo models.

You will need strong research track-record evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, as well as excellent communication skills to audiences of varied expertise. Proven laboratory managerial and leadership skills are also essential.

A competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, is offered for this exciting opportunity.
