About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team at the Francis Crick Institute. As a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist, you will play a key role in leading cutting-edge gene editing projects and collaborating with researchers across various disciplines.

This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your expertise in gene editing using iPS/ES cells, primary cells, and/or in vivo models to drive scientific discovery and innovation. You will work closely with our research teams to design, execute, and analyze experiments, and contribute to the development of new methodologies and technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead gene editing projects within our research program, devising and executing strategies to achieve project goals
  • Provide technical and research expertise to support projects of other research groups, utilizing your skills in human stem cell biology and CRISPR/Cas gene editing
  • Establish new methodologies in the lab, developing and refining techniques to advance our research
  • Maintain laboratory organization and supplies, ensuring efficient lab operations and managing budgets
  • Train and support lab members in standard operating procedures, promoting excellence in laboratory practices
  • Facilitate collaborations within and outside the institute, leveraging your expertise to drive interdisciplinary research
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A PhD in cell biology, genetics, genomics, or a relevant scientific discipline
  • Substantial experience in gene editing using iPS/ES cells, primary cells, and/or in vivo models
  • A strong research track-record evidenced by peer-reviewed publications
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and mentoring others
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
