About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Diabetes and Endocrinology Specialist to join our team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology to lead our department, developing sub-specialty interests and pursuing research and teaching opportunities. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team, including diabetes specialist nurses, endocrine specialist nurses, dieticians, podiatrists, and psychologists.

The Royal Devon is committed to providing exceptional clinical research and patient care. We have a unique organisation with integrated acute and community services across North and mid Devon, sharing one advanced electronic notes system (EPIC) with an integrated patient portal.

You will be based at the North Devon District Hospital site in Barnstaple or the Barnstaple and Exeter site, with opportunities for remote working. We offer a generous financial incentive, relocation package, and support to help ease your transition.

Responsibilities:

  • To lead our department of Diabetes and Endocrinology, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and contributing to service development.
  • To develop sub-specialty interests and pursue research and teaching opportunities, enhancing the reputation of our department.
  • To work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care, driving innovation and research.

Requirements:

  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in leading a team and managing budgets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
