Lead Orthoptist Specialist

Role Overview
The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified Advanced Orthoptist to join their team in a leadership capacity. As a key member of the Orthoptic department, you will be responsible for leading the Glaucoma Monitoring service, working closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists and Orthoptic Assistants.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the core Orthoptic service as an autonomous practitioner.
- Lead the Glaucoma Monitoring service, working closely with the team to develop and implement effective care pathways.
- Collaborate with Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Orthoptic Assistants, Optometrists, and Nurses in a busy and supportive department.
- Develop and implement training programs for junior staff within the Glaucoma Monitoring service.
- Participate in regular multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Contribute to the development of the Orthoptic department, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care.
Requirements
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience in Orthoptic practice, preferably in a leadership capacity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of professionals.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and practices.
Working Arrangements
This is a full-time position, working over 4 days with 3 days of standard hours and one day of 9 hours. We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including access to our occupational health services and opportunities for professional development.
