Overview

Screwfix is a leading retailer in the UK, known for its fast-paced and dynamic work environment. As a Buyer (Trading Manager), you will play a crucial role in driving sales and profit targets for your category by developing and executing a strategic Trading Plan.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver sales and profitability targets for your category through effective category management and trading strategies.
  • Develop a 2-year Category Strategy with market and customer insights to inform trading plans and drive business growth.
  • Propose and execute a 12-month trading plan, negotiating promotional support with suppliers to optimize pricing strategies and promotional activities.
  • Identify shortfalls and propose remedial actions to achieve KPIs, ensuring the category remains competitive and aligned with business objectives.
  • Maintain competitive awareness and use market insights to inform trading plans, ensuring Screwfix remains a market leader.
  • Manage range changes and execute exit strategies where necessary, ensuring the category remains relevant and aligned with customer needs.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to secure business support and engagement, effectively communicating category strategies and plans.
  • Participate in financial budgeting and forecasting activities, ensuring accurate financial planning and management.

  • Profitability: Drive profit targets by optimizing pricing strategies and promotional activities, ensuring the category remains profitable and aligned with business objectives.
  • Market Positioning: Enhance Screwfix's market share by leveraging customer and market insights, ensuring the category remains competitive and aligned with customer needs.
  • Supplier Relationships: Strengthen and negotiate beneficial terms with suppliers to support business objectives, ensuring a strong and collaborative relationship.
  • Innovation: Contribute to product range development and innovation in collaboration with the Kingfisher Group and local suppliers, ensuring the category remains relevant and aligned with customer needs.
  • Customer Focus: Ensure product offerings meet local market demands and customer needs, enhancing overall customer satisfaction and driving business growth.
What You Bring
  • Experience in retail trading, buying, or a similar role, with a strong understanding of commercial concepts and customer focus.
  • Ability to manage strategic sales, understand seasonality, and analyze financial reports, ensuring accurate financial planning and management.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, to effectively communicate category strategies and plans.
  • Excellent presentation and project management skills, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
