Nutrition and Kitchen Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Nutrition and Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Quayside Day Nursery and Preschool.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, supporting the Chef in food preparation, and ensuring dietary requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep the kitchen clean and safe, adhering to internal and external requirements
  • Support the Chef in preparing and cooking age-appropriate food with minimal waste
  • In the absence of the Chef, take responsibility for kitchen operations and ensure dietary requirements are met
  • Promote child welfare, protection, health, and safety, and safeguarding
  • Support the Chef in managing budget and stock levels
  • Work with colleagues to maintain a positive and safe environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a kitchen role, preferably in a domestic or commercial setting
  • Passion for nutrition and inspiring healthy eating
  • Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) - must be passed on day 1 in post
  • Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing dietary requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
