Nutrition Assistant for Early Years Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nutrition Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Quayside Nursery. As a Nutrition Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Chef in the preparation and cooking of nutritious meals for the children in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to internal and external health and safety standards.
  • To support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of meals, with a focus on minimizing food waste.
  • In the absence of the Chef, to take responsibility for the running of the kitchen, ensuring all dietary requirements are met and communicated to the team.
  • To promote and ensure the welfare, protection, health, and safety of the children in our care, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • To work with the Chef to ensure budgetary requirements are met, and stock levels are managed and recorded.
  • To maintain a positive and happy environment in the nursery.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a role involving cooking or working in a kitchen, preferably in a domestic or commercial setting.
  • Passion for nutrition and inspiring healthy eating habits.
  • Food Safety CIEH L2 or above qualification (or equivalent), which must be achieved on day 1 in post.
  • Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing different dietary requirements, particularly food allergies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, children, and parents.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
