Job Title: Head of External Communications

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of External Communications to lead our PR, Corporate Communications, and Press Office teams. As a key member of our Corporate Affairs department, you will play a critical role in protecting and promoting TalkTalk's reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction of TalkTalk's PR, Press Office, and Corporate Communications.
  • Manage and develop the External Communications team under the direction of the Director of Corporate Affairs.
  • Deputise for the Director of Corporate Affairs on ad hoc financial and Group communications when needed.
  • Provide counsel to senior leaders on reputational matters and prepare key messages.
  • Oversee the press office function and provide support with reactive media inquiries.
  • Collaborate with marketing, commercial, product, and customer services teams to deliver key business priorities.
  • Develop and deliver strategic PR objectives and plans to ensure a high profile while guarding the brand's reputation.
  • Ensure regular national, trade, and regional media coverage with the support of your team.
  • Provide oversight for the PR agency and press monitoring provider.
  • Develop our corporate social media strategy and drive up quality awareness and impact.
  • Develop meaningful measurement across all areas of your responsibilities.
  • Build and maintain media relationships.
  • Maintain close relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure coordination of communications.

Requirements:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in PR and Communications, preferably in an in-house setting.
  • Experience managing and guiding a PR agency.
  • Experience planning and managing multiple PR campaigns.
  • Strong copywriting and grammar skills.
  • Highly organised and comfortable managing several projects simultaneously.
  • Solid knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Experience creating and running social activity.
  • Experience of communications measurement tools.

Location:

This role could be based in Salford or London, with some travel required between the two locations each month.
