Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking an experienced nurse leader to fill the role of Matron in our cardiothoracic surgery department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and support to the cardiothoracic surgical wards, as well as contributing to the site nursing leadership team. Key duties will include:

  • Providing supportive and clear objectives to direct line reporters
  • Delivering on key performance indicators, including quality and safety, clinical outcomes, financial objectives, and education and research
  • Supporting the delivery of local quality improvements work streams
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to have:

  • Previous experience as a Band 7 lead/manager in surgery or a relevant acute care area
  • Experience supporting patients on complex care pathways
  • Contributed to policies and protocols
