Job Summary

The Fluid Power Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, documenting, and troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, lubrication, and coolant control systems for gear manufacturing machines. This role requires collaboration with other engineering groups to facilitate a systems engineering approach to machine design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop pneumatic and hydraulic control systems for multi-axes gear manufacturing machines
  • Maintain schematic masters and master BOMs for current and legacy machines
  • Provide part specification changes based on customer interactions
  • Interface with assembly methods to apply part coding and documentation for efficient machine assembly
  • Prioritize and address engineering issues in a timely manner
  • Facilitate design reviews, FMEAs, and risk management meetings
  • Participate in process improvement efforts to identify deficiencies in fluid power engineering
  • Follow, improve, and create work instructions that document fluid power controls engineering processes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in hydraulic or fluid power engineering or other engineering degree with at least one year of fluid power design experience
  • Proven ability to design fluid control systems, size and specify controls components, and apply seals, material compatibility, and lubrication principles
  • Knowledge of US and international fluid power design standards and safety standards (NFPA, IEC, etc.)
  • Proficiency in EPLAN, SAP, Creo, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with EPLAN, SAP, and Creo
  • Knowledge of gear and transmission design software
  • Ability to work with other disciplines, including technicians, runoff operators, field service, and supply chain
