About the Role

Climax Studios is a leading creative force in independent games development, renowned for its exceptional portfolio of top-tier titles. As a Lead Artist, you will be part of a dynamic team that thrives in a stimulating environment at our harbourside studio in Portsmouth, England.

We are seeking an experienced and versatile Lead Artist with the ability to conceptualize, create, and lead the team in crafting innovative visual experiences for AAA titles. Proven expertise in generating diverse styles, technical proficiency with current-gen technology, and/or illustration skills are highly valued.

This is a full-time, on-site position.

Key Responsibilities
  • At least 5+ years of experience in console development with at least 2 shipped titles and one as a Lead Artist.
  • Effective visual and verbal communication skills when directing internal or external teams or individuals.
  • Excellent resource management and judgment while assigning artists of varying skill sets to numerous projects in the studio.
  • Comfortable liaising with and presenting to clients in an authoritative and professional manner.
  • A self-motivated team leader who is outgoing, friendly, gregarious, with attention to detail, and a passion for delivering exceptional game experiences.
  • Autonomous in managing deadlines and budgets, with excellent time management skills.
  • Experience in managing art teams effectively and in a timely fashion.
  • 2-3 years of experience developing and implementing solid art production pathways.
  • The ability to find creative solutions when troubleshooting and assessing risks.
  • A good understanding of cutting-edge artistic techniques and tools and the ability to implement them into current practical practices.
