Viral Disease Research Specialist

We are seeking an experienced researcher to join our team at The Pirbright Institute, focusing on viral disease research.
About the RoleThis role involves undertaking experiments to achieve specific objectives and milestones within the indicated timelines of the research project.
You will be responsible for designing, setting up, running, and optimizing experiments in consultation with the principal investigator and other members of the research group.
You will analyze and critically interpret data using methodologies appropriate to the research objectives.
You will also prepare material for publication in academic journals and for presentation at scientific conferences, in consultation with the principal investigator and other colleagues.
Key Responsibilities- To undertake experiments to achieve the specific objectives and milestones within the indicated timelines of the research project.
- To design, set up, run, and optimize experiments in consultation and collaboration with the principal investigator and other members of the research group.
- To analyze and critically interpret data using methodologies appropriate to the research objectives.
- To prepare material for publication in academic journals and for presentation at scientific conferences, in consultation with the principal investigator and other colleagues.
- PhD in a relevant branch of biosciences, (Virology/Influenza virology).
- Working experience in handling avian influenza viruses in laboratory and animal facility.
- Experience in the production of recombinant influenza viruses using reverse genetic approaches.
- Scientific publications in a relevant field (appropriate to experience).
- Experience in carrying out animal experimental work involving poultry as a personal license holder un the home office approved project licence guidelines.
- An estimated salary of £50,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
