Job Title: Clinical Wellbeing Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Clinical Wellbeing Supervisor to join our Health and Wellbeing team at Winchester College. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Health and Wellbeing Centre and ensuring that it operates in accordance with the school's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and review the school's Health and Wellbeing strategy in conjunction with the Deputy Head Pastoral and Surmaster Pastoral.
  • Ensure that the Health and Wellbeing Centre is ready for the arrival of girl boarders from September 2026.
  • Oversee the operation of the Health and Wellbeing Centre, ensuring that it runs in accordance with the school's ethos and policies on pastoral care and safeguarding.
  • Provide oversight for services, including developing and monitoring outcomes.
  • Lead and promote whole school health and wellbeing initiatives.
Management Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with the School Doctor and their practice, and hold regular review meetings.
  • Shared line management of the counselling team (with the Deputy Head Pastoral) including an annual review.
  • Assess the requirement for additional support to the Health and Wellbeing Centre, e.g. Physiotherapy.
  • Assess the Medical Centre staff's professional training and development needs in conjunction with the School Doctor to ensure that the Health and Wellbeing Centre continues to offer first-class medical care which complies with current best practice.
  • Organise and oversee training programmes and an induction programme for Health and Wellbeing Centre staff.
  • Direct and control the selection and recruitment of Health and Wellbeing Centre staff as required.
  • Prepare, review, and publish policies and guidelines, as required, relating to the management of the Health and Wellbeing Centre and the health and welfare of pupils, staff, and visitors.
  • Manage the Health and Wellbeing Centre budget in conjunction with the Deputy Head Pastoral (via support from the Bursary). Authorise and submit time sheets for part-time staff as appropriate.
  • Ensure that iSAMS is used accurately and consistently by all members of Health and Wellbeing Centre.
  • Regular production and review of Health and Wellbeing data from iSAMS to enable continued improvement in provision of service. Continue the strategic and operational development of pupil data and monitoring systems including iSAMS and CPOMS.
  • Maintain online resources and wellbeing presence online, both internally and externally, working with marketing, IT, and other staff.
  • Working closely with the Leadership Team and the Director of HR, advising on Staff emotional health and wellbeing and providing updates to relevant sections of the staff handbook.
  • Close liaison with the Fellow (Governor) with special interest in staff wellbeing.
  • Manage complaints with skill and diplomacy.
  • Review the appraisals of nurses and healthcare assistants and develop associated training needs.
  • Oversee the induction of new staff in the Health and Wellbeing Centre.
Compliance:
  • Ensure that all Health and Wellbeing Centre staff are correctly registered and trained at all times.
  • Oversee the maintenance of proper records as requested by regulatory bodies such as the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) to facilitate easy and accurate retrieval of information.
  • Be responsible for Health and Safety (H&S) issues within the Health and Wellbeing Centre and carry out periodic H&S risk assessments. Arrange for appropriate health and safety training for all Health and Wellbeing Centre staff. Maintain an up-to-date record on all hazardous substances used and stored in the Health and Wellbeing Centre. Apply the School's H&S policies.
  • Ensure the storage and communication of personal information complies with the school's Data Protection policy.
Personal Specification:
  • RGN Qualified Nurse and/or RSCN Paediatric Nurse.
  • Excellent communication skills, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to analyse and present data effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly with young people.
  • Experience working in a girls boarding desirable but not essential.
