About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our team at ABB. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the preparation of technical specifications that meet project requirements, preparing or approving engineering deliverables, and performing technical reviews to ensure compliance with customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement technical specifications that meet project requirements
  • Prepare or approve engineering deliverables, including architecture, GA, FDS, DDS, and application programming
  • Perform technical reviews to ensure compliance with customer specifications
  • Evaluate and select standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments
  • Handle FAT, installation, and commissioning activities
  • Prepare and analyze existing legacy systems and lead revamp/retrofit solutions
  • Assist in preparing proposals for Sales teams, including bills of materials and estimated engineering hours
  • Identify customer requirements, question, and document as-is processes and interfaces
  • Create work plans and cost estimations, ensuring quality deliverables on time and within budgeted cost
  • Complete risk and opportunity assessments and ensure implementation of resulting actions
  • Provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities
  • Collaborate with business teams to deliver solutions within timeline
  • Assist customers on technical issues, interact with official contacts, and other staff
  • Ensure the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies
Requirements
  • Engineering Qualification: B.Eng or M.Eng
  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in process or safety systems, predominantly in application engineering, HMI engineering, 3rd party communication interfaces, FAT and SAT for process automation in any of the domains like oil & gas or refineries or petrochemicals
  • Good knowledge on process or ICSS and safety systems (fire & gas protection systems or emergency shutdown systems)
  • Experience in any ABB systems like 800xA, Symphony plus, SG400, AC400, AC800M, Infi90, AC500 etc., will be an added advantage
  • Good understanding of functional safety standards and project practices
  • Industrial Protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet and IEC61850
  • Industry Knowledge: Networking, Cyber Security, IOT, Industry 4.0, SCADA, PLC
  • Software Experience: Network Management, VMWare ESXi
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK and overseas (up to 30% of time)
