About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our team at ABB. As a key member of our global team, you will play a critical role in driving the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive and sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the preparation of technical specifications that align with project requirements, and prepare or approve engineering deliverables such as architecture, GA, FDS, DDS, and application programming.
  • Perform technical reviews to ensure deliverables meet customer technical specifications.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments in projects.
  • Handle FAT, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Prepare, study, and analyze existing legacy systems and lead revamp/retrofit solutions.
  • Assist in preparing proposals for the Sales team, including provision of bills of materials and estimated engineering hours.
  • Identify customer requirements, question, and document as-is processes and interfaces, discover gaps, design to-be integration in collaboration with business resources.
  • Create work plans and cost estimations, and ensure quality deliverables on time and within budgeted cost.
  • Complete risk and opportunity assessments and ensure implementation of resulting actions.
  • Provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with business teams to deliver solutions within timeline.
  • Assist customers on technical issues, interact with official contacts, and other staff.
  • Ensure the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
Requirements
  • Engineering Qualification: B.Eng or M.Eng.
  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in process or safety systems, predominantly in application engineering, HMI engineering, 3rd party communication interfaces, FAT and SAT for process automation in any of the domains like oil & gas or refineries or petrochemicals.
  • Good knowledge on process or ICSS and safety systems (fire & gas protection systems or emergency shutdown systems).
  • Experience in any ABB systems like 800xA, Symphony plus, SG400, AC400, AC800M, Infi90, AC500, etc., will be an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of functional safety standards and project practices.
  • Industrial Protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, and IEC61850.
  • Industry Knowledge: Networking, Cyber Security, IOT, Industry 4.0, SCADA, PLC.
  • Software Experience: Network Management, VMWare ESXi.
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK and overseas (up to 30% of time).
