About the Position

As a Specialist Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping students develop effective coping mechanisms and strategies to overcome challenges related to their disabilities. Your expertise will be invaluable in enabling students to achieve their academic goals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support to students with disabilities/mental health conditions in their academic studies
  • Help students develop coping strategies and techniques to overcome difficulties related to their disabilities
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Postgraduate qualification in mental health (desired)
  • Experience working with students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) in higher or further education
Qualifications and Certifications
  • Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) - Full membership
  • The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) - Full Accredited membership
  • Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA)
  • Mental Health Nurse
  • Community Mental Health Nurse
