Key Responsibilities

As a Mortgage Loan Specialist I at State Employees' Credit Union, you will be responsible for originating and processing mortgage loans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and credit union policies. This role requires a strong understanding of lending principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with branch personnel, members, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree, CCUE Certification, or Associate in Arts degree or Associate in Science degree via the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' lending experience.
  • Must possess the highest level of integrity and objectivity.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to communicate with branch personnel, VPs, SVPs, attorneys, members, appraisers, realtors, etc.
  • Must have strong networking and relationship development skills.
  • Meets compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Makes lending decisions consistent with SECU loan policies.
  • Has registered as an active MLO with the NMLS.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Must be willing to engage in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to speak English fluently.
  • Must understand and be dedicated to the Credit Union philosophy and work ethic.
  • Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policies established by the Credit Union.

Work Environment

The Mortgage Loan Specialist I will work in an office setting with physical proximity to other employees and members. Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone may be present. Local travel may be required.

Physical Demands

The role requires a substantial amount of sitting and the ability to comprehend and carry out job demands. The Mortgage Loan Specialist I must be able to use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information, use hands and fingers to press telephone keypad and lift telephone receiver, and comprehend phone calls.
