Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Job Summary:
GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join one of our client schools in Ruskington. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting students with additional needs and helping them thrive in a learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Assist in the implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other tailored learning strategies.
- Work alongside teaching staff to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Promote independence and encourage students to take responsibility for their learning.
- Support the social and emotional development of students, helping to improve their confidence and well-being.
- Aid in managing challenging behaviour using positive reinforcement and behaviour management strategies.
- Accompany students on off-site activities when required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to monitor progress and adapt support as needed.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, following safeguarding protocols.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting, particularly those with SEN.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference in students' lives.
- The ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- A valid driving licence.
- A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
Please note that this role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must satisfy all background recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
