Job Description: As a highly skilled Substation Mechanical Specialist, you will play a critical role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical components within our substations. You will work at heights and ensure all activities comply with safety regulations, operating Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment within our substations.
  • Utilise expertise to operate MEWPs and safely access equipment at height.
  • Ensure adherence to National Grid's safety standards and procedures at all times.
  • Develop and implement risk assessments and method statements for mechanical activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to deliver efficient workflows and safe working practices.

Requirements:
  • Possess a recognised Mechanical Fitting qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Hold valid Competent Person authorisation.
  • Demonstrate certified MEWP operation experience in various MEWP types.
  • Show familiarity with National Grid's operational and safety procedures.

Benefits:
  • This role comes with an estimated annual salary of around £50,000-£60,000, based on experience and qualifications.
