Field Service Engineer - Heavy Plant & Equipment

Elite Consultancy Network is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their prestigious client, a market leading dealer within the UK heavy plant market.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Self-manage the service and repair of construction equipment, ensuring high levels of satisfaction through effective resolution of queries and regular communication on planned site visits and machine repair progress.
  2. Identify mechanical problems, using technical knowledge and computerised diagnostic equipment, and maintain a sufficient personal toolkit to enable effective job completion.
  3. Accurately complete systems and paperwork, and order parts for work as necessary, returning parts in a clean condition at the time of job completion to aid efficient invoicing.
  4. Assist and coach colleagues with technical support and guidance where necessary, and demonstrate flexibility to work overtime as required.
  5. Attend relevant product and systems training courses to ensure a high standard of competence required to efficiently complete duties.
Requirements
  1. A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural/HGV mechanics or related discipline (i.e. NVQ 3/C&G).
  2. Relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant, including proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics and electrics.
  3. Advanced diagnostic and trouble shooting skills, and comprehensive understanding of hydraulics, electrics and EATS.
  4. Desirable: Welding and fabrication.
  5. Good team worker, with ability to communicate efficiently with colleagues, management and customers.
  6. Commercially aware, effectively supporting customers within the geographical area.
  7. Problem solving ability and high level of diagnostic skills.
  8. High standards and attention to detail.
  9. Ability to understand technical literature/systems.
