Field Service Engineer - Heavy Plant & Equipment

Elite Consultancy Network is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their prestigious client, a market leading dealer within the UK heavy plant market.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Self-manage the service and repair of construction equipment, ensuring high levels of satisfaction through effective resolution of queries and regular communication with customers.
  2. Identify mechanical problems using technical knowledge and computerised diagnostic equipment, and implement effective solutions to resolve issues.
  3. Be the main point of contact for customers, providing regular updates on planned site visits and machine repair progress.
  4. Maintain a sufficient personal toolkit to enable effective job completion.
  5. Accurately complete systems and paperwork, and order parts as necessary to aid efficient invoicing.
  6. Assist and coach colleagues with technical support and guidance where required.
  7. Flexibility to work overtime as necessary, and honour reasonable call out requests.
  8. Attend relevant product and systems training courses to ensure high standards of competence.
Requirements
  1. A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural/HGV mechanics or related discipline.
  2. Relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant, including proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics and electrics.
  3. Advanced diagnostic and trouble shooting skills, and comprehensive understanding of hydraulics, electrics and EATS.
  4. Desirable: Welding and fabrication skills.
  5. Good team worker with ability to communicate efficiently with colleagues, management and customers.
  6. Commercially aware, with ability to support customers within the geographical area.
  7. Problem solving ability and high level of diagnostic skills.
  8. High standards and attention to detail.
  9. Ability to understand technical literature and systems.
