About the Role

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Lead Quality Specialist. As a key member of our Quality senior management team, you will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and monitoring an effective quality management system (QMS) that ensures the highest standards of quality and safety in our operations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality management strategies that align with NHSBT's overall objectives and goals.
  • Lead a team of Quality Assurance specialists in the development and implementation of quality management systems and processes.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to operational areas on quality management, risk awareness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders, including Risk, Business Continuity, and Clinical Governance, to ensure a comprehensive approach to quality and safety.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives that drive real improvements in patient and donor safety.
  • Provide line management and leadership to staff, teams, or functions within the Quality Directorate.
  • Ensure the QMS is maintained and developed to meet the needs of the organization and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in quality management, risk management, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
