About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Histopathologist to join our team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Histopathology Services, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality diagnostic services to patients across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic Expertise
    • Provide accurate and timely histopathology reports to support patient care and treatment decisions.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of diagnostic protocols and guidelines.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
    • Provide educational and training opportunities to support the development of junior staff and medical students.
  • Quality and Improvement
    • Contribute to the quality improvement initiatives and audits to ensure high standards of service delivery.
    • Participate in peer review processes to maintain and improve diagnostic accuracy.
Requirements
  • Essential Qualifications
    • FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
    • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Desirable Qualifications
    • Experience in coronial post-mortem work and willingness to join the autopsy rota.
    • Experience in small group teaching and supervisory experience.

    • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
    • Reflective approach to personal development with the ability to address and manage performance challenges effectively.
