Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Operation Department Practitioner to join our team in Harley Street. As an anaesthetic member of the theatre team, you will provide nursing care for patients, perform duties in alignment with established policies, and contribute to the smooth running of the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care for patients within the Operating Department.
  • Perform Operating Department duties in accordance with established protocols.
  • Act as an Anaesthetic member of the Theatre team, conducting safety checks on swabs, instruments, and needles.
  • Label and dispatch laboratory specimens to the recovery area.
  • Offer assistance to the Anaesthetic and Surgeon as needed.
  • Participate in discussions regarding departmental policies and contribute to the development of new procedures.
  • Assist in compiling procedure manuals.
  • Report incidents of accidents, complaints, or defects in drugs, supplies, or equipment.
  • Aid medical and para-medical staff from other departments with procedures carried out in the Operating Department.
Admin Responsibilities
  • Maintain effective relationships with all disciplines within the department and other departments of the hospital.
  • Ensure correct dress, scrubbing up, gowning, and gloving.
  • Prepare theatre prior to commencement of lists, including assembling and function testing of necessary electromedical equipment.
  • Prepare instruments, trolleys, and sterile supplies requested for the surgery.
  • Perform swab needle and instrument counts with the circulating practitioner.
  • Complete documentation as per local policy.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and have a strong attention to detail.

The estimated salary for this position is between £35,000 and £42,000 per annum, depending on experience.
