Loom Technician

Job Summary
The Loom Technician will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of textile manufacturing equipment, including Rapier and Waterjet looms. This role requires a strong understanding of weaving processes and a keen eye for detail to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve cloth and mechanical defects on looms
- Perform minor repairs on all looms to maintain optimal performance
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures for tasks such as style changes
- Carry out Preventative Maintenance duties, including checking Rapiers, settings, worn and loose parts, and loom lubrication
- Assist with major overhauling of looms as required
- Work collaboratively with the production team to minimize downtime
- Control the use of weaving spares to optimize inventory and reduce waste
- Maintain the highest possible levels of quality, efficiency, and maintenance
- Ensure all loom settings are to specification
- Comply with Health & Safety practices and Company policies
- Ensure work areas are kept clean, clear, and hazard-free
- Report all accidents as required
Requirements
- Experience and knowledge of working with Rapier and Waterjet looms
- Excellent health and safety practices and knowledge
- Reliable and enthusiastic
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Able to work to given tolerances and measurements
- An organized team player with strong communication skills
- Keen eye for detail and housekeeping
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Understanding of Kanban systems, standard work, and C.S.D. (continuous skills development)
- Experience of following Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals
- Knowledge of weaving processes would be advantageous
- Knowledge of Barco would be advantageous
- Experience of implementing Lean practices would be advantageous
