Loom Technician

Job Summary
The Loom Technician will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of textile manufacturing equipment, including Rapier and Waterjet looms. This role requires a strong understanding of weaving processes and a keen eye for detail to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve cloth and mechanical defects on textile manufacturing equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on looms to ensure optimal performance
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and Preventative Maintenance schedules
- Assist with major overhauls and upgrades of textile manufacturing equipment
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency
- Monitor and control the use of weaving spares to minimize waste and optimize inventory
- Maintain high levels of quality, efficiency, and maintenance in textile manufacturing processes
- Ensure all loom settings are accurate and compliant with specifications
- Comply with Health & Safety practices and Company policies
- Report all accidents and incidents as required
Requirements
- Experience working with Rapier and Waterjet looms
- Strong understanding of weaving processes and textile manufacturing principles
- Excellent health and safety practices and knowledge
- Reliable and enthusiastic team player with strong communication skills
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Able to work to given tolerances and measurements
- Organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Understanding of Kanban systems, standard work, and C.S.D. (continuous skills development)
- Experience following Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals
- Knowledge of Barco and Lean practices advantageous
Working Conditions
- Shift work - 4 on/4 off, 2 days/2 nights
- Location: Bury site
