Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive commercial strategy to drive growth and revenue.
  • Lead on commercial development and associated growth targets, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Line management of 4 direct reports, providing guidance and support to ensure successful team performance.
  • Manage complex communications at a senior level, including presenting, engaging, and influencing corporate and political leadership teams.
  • Be an active member of the senior leadership team, fostering collaboration and breaking down silos within the organisation.
  • Take ownership for financial performance, managing budgets, maximising income generation, and identifying cost efficiencies.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Drive operational efficiency by implementing robust processes, monitoring service delivery, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Continuously assess and develop the portfolio of shared services, ensuring offerings remain innovative, competitive, and aligned with client requirements.

Essential Requirements:

  • Professional membership of CIPD or other relevant professional body.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a traded environment, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong leadership and line management experience, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Proven HR experience at a senior level within local government, with a deep understanding of the sector.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with corporate and political decision makers.
  • Experience in establishing positive relationships across diverse settings and developing relevant Service Level Agreements to secure quality of outputs.
