About the Role

The Fir Tree Medical Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Coding Administrator/Receptionist to join our team. As a key member of our administration staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare professionals.

Main Responsibilities

  • To provide a welcoming and efficient service to patients, answering queries and directing them to the relevant healthcare professional as needed.
  • To undertake various administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the practice, including secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
  • To maintain accurate records and files, both physically and digitally, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and secure.
  • To process prescriptions and medical correspondence in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to practice policies and procedures.
  • To manage appointment scheduling, room allocation, and other administrative duties as required.
  • To communicate effectively with patients, carers, and colleagues, using alternative methods of communication when necessary.
  • To maintain confidentiality and adhere to practice policies and procedures regarding data protection and patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a related field, such as health administration or business studies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, carers, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of EMIS web and other medical software packages.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours.
