Design Manager - Internal Products & Platforms

At the Financial Times Group, we are committed to delivering cutting-edge products to our digital subscribers. As a key member of our Product & Tech team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our product portfolio and driving innovation.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Design System champion to lead our Internal Products & Platforms design team. As the leader of this team, you will be responsible for managing a small but impactful team of four designers, collaborating with other Design and Research Managers to develop team capabilities, and ensuring high-quality experiences across our product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design System Vision and Strategy: Collaborate with senior leadership and peers to formulate and communicate a clear vision, strategy, and roadmap for our design system.
  • Drive Design System Adoption: Create documentation, self-service tools, and contribution models to facilitate and scale design system adoption.
  • Mentor and Coach Designers: Help designers improve their design craft by utilizing clear design standards set out in the design system.
  • Team Leadership: Collaborate with Product and Tech partners to plan and shape current and future initiatives, deploying your team to maximum effect.

Requirements

  • A seasoned Design System champion with multi-brand experience.
  • Demonstrable examples of enabling career progression.
  • A User Experience advocate who is comfortable taking decisive action when required.
  • An expert collaborator who is great at relationship building and stakeholder management.
  • A B2B enthusiast who recognizes the power of Internal Products in relation to a broader Product portfolio.
