Job Title: Senior Nurse Leader

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Nurse Leader to join our team in Ophthalmology.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse to provide clinical leadership and operational management across all elements of the service, including pre-assessment, day surgery, urgent eye, outpatients, and ongoing care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide innovative, clinical, professional, and managerial leadership to ensure the provision of high-quality, responsive services with the needs of the patient at the center of care delivery.
  • Be accountable for all clinical and non-clinical aspects of quality within the service, including working clinical shifts.
  • Support the Head of Nursing by leading and developing nurses and nursing practice.
  • Develop and implement policies, guidelines, and projects from initiation to completion.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a professional, safe, and efficient service to patients and staff.
Requirements:
  • Current and relevant NMC registration.
  • Degree in a health-related subject.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Management training.
  • Ophthalmology experience.
  • Significant experience managing a ward/unit.
  • Project management.
  • Clinical practice and demonstrable knowledge of developments in nursing policy and practice.
  • Good understanding of risk and clinical governance.
  • Lifelong learning, professional education, and training.
  • Workforce planning, recruitment, and retention.
  • Advising and influencing senior managers in relation to risk management and quality improvement.
