About the JobWe are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial Operations team, where you will be responsible for delivering expert commercial and contract management services.
This is a hybrid position based in our Bedford office, offering a great work-life balance and opportunities for growth and development.
- Day-to-day contract and commercial management, including managing communication and notifications to timescales, valuing compensation events and early warnings, and reviewing final accounts using CEMAR contract management portal.
- Assessing payment applications using National Highways 'Confirm' Enterprise Asset Management portal.
- Leading on regular cost and contract audits to ensure contractor compliance with contract conditions.
- Monitoring actual costs against budget and preparing contract forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities to Opex and Capex budgets.
- Acting as a line manager and mentor to Assistant Quantity Surveyors, Graduates, and Apprentices, providing ongoing support in their professional development.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A B.Sc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or extensive experience working as a QS within a commercial function delivering value to the business, preferably experience working on civil engineering projects.
- Excellent commercial awareness and experience with successfully delivering a variety of projects using different forms of contract (NEC desirable).
- Proficient user of Excel and familiarity with contract management software.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to provide training and support to the commercial teams.
