Job Summary

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Customer Service Advisor to join our team. As a Customer Service Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, providing a first-rate service by telephone, email, or web chat. You will be responsible for handling customer inquiries, resolving issues, and providing information on tax-related matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to taxpayers, responding to their inquiries and resolving their issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Handle customer complaints and concerns, escalating complex issues to senior colleagues or managers as necessary.
  • Provide information and guidance on tax-related matters, including tax returns, payments, and refunds.
  • Process customer payments and handle customer correspondence, including emails and letters.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex customer issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple customer inquiries and tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic math skills, with the ability to perform calculations and handle customer payments.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet customer needs.
