Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Theatre Assistant to join our team at the University Hospital of Wales. As a key member of the Operating Theatre environment, you will provide vital support to registered staff and contribute to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the theatre for procedures, ensuring daily safety checks are carried out.
  • Collect and open instrument trays in accordance with UHB policies.
  • Participate in swab, sharps, and instrument counts as per UHB Policy.
  • Assist scrub practitioners with specimen handling and dispatch for laboratory examination.
  • Connect and test diathermy and suction apparatus.
  • Maintain stock levels in the operating theatre, rotating stock and checking for out-of-date items.

Person Specification:

  • A relevant diploma in Peri-operative care or equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of undertaking extended skills training or roles such as trainer for BLS, Manual Handling, Fire Warden.

Salary and Benefits:
