British Sign Language Education Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join our team at TimePlan Education Group Ltd. As a BSL Education Specialist, you will work closely with the Teacher of the Deaf, using a Total Communication approach to ensure Deaf pupils have full access to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Deaf students in both mainstream classrooms and the Centre for the Deaf, assisting with learning, progress, and inclusion.
  • Facilitate Deaf pupils' engagement with the curriculum and their participation in all learning activities.
  • Encourage independence in learning and other aspects of school life.

Requirements:

  • BSL Level 1 qualification or above, with experience in primary school settings.
  • Understanding of the needs of students from diverse backgrounds, including those with sensory impairments and special educational needs.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, and BSL).
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Good organisational, time management, and ICT skills.
