British Sign Language Teaching Assistant Opportunity

Remedy Education is seeking a skilled British Sign Language teaching assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Lewisham, South East London.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will provide support to a pupil with hearing impairments, acting as the first point of contact and setting new learning targets. They will also be responsible for general support, working closely with the teacher as needed.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide individualized support to the pupil, ensuring their needs are met and their progress is monitored.
  2. Collaborate with the teacher to develop and implement effective learning strategies.
  3. Support the pupil in developing their British Sign Language skills, promoting independence and confidence.
  4. Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment, fostering a sense of community and respect for diversity.
  5. Previous experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments is essential, with Level 1 in British Sign Language being highly desirable.
