Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Sous Chef at The Boat Country Inn & Restaurant, you will work closely with the Head Chef to maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
  • Supervise and motivate kitchen staff to maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies to minimise waste and maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards to create a safe working environment.
  • Assist in the development of new menu items and seasonal specials, incorporating fresh, locally sourced ingredients where possible.
  • Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth communication and seamless service.
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen workspace, including equipment maintenance and sanitation.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Proficiency in various cooking techniques and a strong understanding of food preparation principles.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and delegate tasks.
  • A passion for food and a creative approach to menu development.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality in every dish.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
