Job Title: Lead Nurse

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to take on a leadership position in our prison healthcare team. As a Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for the daily management, co-ordination, and delivery of evidence-based care, providing strong clinical leadership to the nursing team.

About the Role

You will be involved in shift planning, taking appropriate action to adjust staffing levels, and prioritizing the workload in accordance with patient need, service demand, and the availability and skills of staff. You will also provide and supervise the holistic care for patients delivered by the team, working in collaboration with other professionals to ensure that the best care is optimized at all times.

The post holder will assess, advise, and administer evidence-based care as appropriate to patients within Health & Justice. This includes leading physical health services as part of a multi-disciplinary team to plan, provide, and evaluate a range of health interventions to meet prisoner healthcare needs and contribute to the wider continuous development of integrated prison healthcare services.

Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse Level 1
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and delivery of evidence-based care
  • Independent Nurse/Supplementary/Non-Medical Prescriber qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Appropriate management qualification or equivalent experience

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • RCGP Cert 1/2 Primary Care/LTC qualification
  • Significant experience of working in a complex environment with multidisciplinary professionals, demonstrating effective communication and leadership skills
  • Experience of clinical governance used to improve patient care
  • Autonomous practitioner experience
  • Change management experience
  • Experience of leading a team and effectively using policy and procedures to improve clinical and professional standards
  • Multidisciplinary/multi-agency working experience
  • Understanding and application of confidentiality
