Overview

Spectrum Community Health CIC is a not-for-profit social enterprise providing award-winning healthcare services across various settings, including substance misuse, sexual health, and health and justice.

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmaceutical Service Assistant to join our team in Cheshire District. This role will be instrumental in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services to prisoners.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will assist the Pharmacy Manager and Technician in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective provision of pharmacy services to prisoners.

This includes assisting with the timely supply of dispensed medicines, reviewing repeat prescribing systems, and contributing to clinical audit activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Spectrum Community Health (SCH) prison pharmacy team in delivering pharmacy services to ensure continuity of supply of medicines.
  • Contribute to the timely and efficient supply of dispensed medicines to prisoners.
  • Work within locally approved policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist the prison pharmacy team in reviewing repeat prescribing systems and implementing improvements.
  • Assist the prison pharmacy team in responding to major MHRA drug alerts through facilitation of appropriate action within prison healthcare.
  • Assist the prison pharmacy team in undertaking clinical audit and sharing outcomes to facilitate improvement and changes in practice.
  • Prepare user-friendly resources and information that support health professionals in implementing national guidance and promoting rational, cost-effective prescribing.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • NVQ level 2 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in community/hospital pharmacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues.
