Consultant Gastroenterologist Position

Job Overview
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Gastroenterologist to join its existing team. The Department of Gastroenterology provides a comprehensive service to the county of Shropshire and Mid Wales, covering both hospital sites.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care, working independently and in collaboration with consultant staff.
- Participate in the Gastroenterology on-call rota, ensuring seamless coverage and patient care.
- Conduct a range of clinical activities, including emergency and elective care, with a focus on gastrointestinal complaints.
- Contribute to audit and governance, supporting the training of junior medical staff and other teams.
- Undertake administrative duties to support clinical commitments, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
- Be a core member of the Upper GI/Hepatobiliary Cancer MDT, contributing to multidisciplinary discussions and decision-making.
- Develop enhanced clinical skills, particularly in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
- Demonstrate excellent team-working skills, with a professional attitude and ability to work effectively in a multi-professional team.
- Deliver clinical and quality targets, aligned with national and local priorities, in collaboration with clinical teams and commissioners.
- Follow patients throughout their clinical pathways, ensuring continuity of care.

A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, outlining duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. The job plan will be reviewed annually, ensuring a clear schedule of commitments and personal objectives aligned with Trust strategic priorities.
