Consultant Gastroenterologist Position

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our esteemed team. As a key member of our Department of Gastroenterology, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the development of our services.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality clinical care to patients with gastrointestinal complaints, including emergency and elective care.
- Participate in the Gastroenterology on-call rota, ensuring seamless coverage and patient safety.
- Contribute to the audit and governance of our services, driving quality improvement and excellence.
- Support the training and development of junior medical staff, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
- Engage in administrative duties, ensuring efficient and effective clinical operations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver clinical and quality targets, aligning with national and local priorities.
- Develop and maintain enhanced clinical skills, particularly in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
- Exhibit excellent team-working skills, demonstrating a professional attitude and commitment to our values.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is a leading provider of acute hospital services, serving a population of around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and mid Wales. Our catchment area spans picturesque regions, including the Cambrian Mountains, Newport, and the Black Country. We operate two main service locations: the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury.
Job DescriptionA formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, outlining the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. The job plan will cover all aspects of a consultant's professional practice, including clinical work, teaching, research, education, and managerial responsibilities.
Person Specification- MBBS, MB ChB, or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCP or equivalent medical qualification.
- PhD, MD, or evidence of higher education qualification (desirable).
- Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
