Key Responsibilities
  • Manage development projects from concept to delivery, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Oversee projects through the C2L/Clarizen system, maintaining accurate and detailed project records.
  • Provide technical expertise and mentoring to the NPD, purchasing, operational, and commercial teams.
  • Develop and review the C2L/Clarizen process to ensure it meets the needs of the business and customers.
  • Liaise with project leaders and commercial teams to agree timings for development elements and ensure delivery to target launch dates.
  • Monitor final product costs and advise project teams on deviations and corrective actions.
  • Evolve the R&D process to provide innovative and competitive advantages for the business.
  • Participate in the composition of factory operating procedures and QA measurements/standards for individual projects.
  • Ensure all new products are discussed with the technical team in relation to HACCP.
  • Participate in and lead cross-functional project teams as required.
  • Develop a method to identify and recommend value engineering projects on existing products.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating strong leadership skills, and motivate and inspire coworkers.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key customers, suppliers, and internal customers.
  • Contribute to the development of commercial/category strategy with a focus on food, innovation, and process.
  • Develop innovation through sourcing, process, and creative improvements.
  • Work closely with the NPD team and commercial functions to ensure product briefs are fully understood and NPD is fit for purpose.
  • Contribute to the food element of awards, events, and exhibitions attended by the company.
  • Ensure all new products meet relevant legal and customer requirements.
  • Establish links with external bodies, suppliers, and individuals to advance BI-UK technical/development expertise.
  • Actively promote and comply with all employment policies and procedures of the Company.
  • Take ownership of your Personnel Development Plan, ensuring development needs are met to develop your role and business overall.
  • Support and encourage a positive and open culture within which individuals are encouraged to participate and be involved.
  • Contribute to the development of the organisation, retention, and succession plans.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues.
