About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Front End Web Developer to join our dynamic web development team at Renishaw. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for building highly functional and visually appealing client-side web applications that enhance user experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop responsive web pages in HTML for both desktop and mobile devices, ensuring seamless user experience across various platforms.
  • Translate high-fidelity design mock-ups into responsive HTML/CSS/JS templates, leveraging your expertise in UI/UX design principles.
  • Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance and efficiency.
  • Write maintainable and testable client-side web applications, utilizing your knowledge of software development best practices.
  • Design features specifically for mobile devices, taking into account the unique challenges and opportunities of mobile development.
  • Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers to enhance usability and ensure a cohesive user experience across all touchpoints.
  • Liaise with customer-focused teams to assist with determining requirements and ensuring that our web applications meet the needs of our customers.
  • Document solutions implemented, providing clear and concise documentation for future reference.
  • Plan work in detail within an Agile environment, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality results.
  • Create high-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes, utilizing your expertise in design tools and software.
  • Assist back-end developers with coding and troubleshooting, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Ensure high-quality graphic standards and brand consistency across all web applications, upholding the Renishaw brand identity.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends, applying your knowledge to drive innovation and improvement within our web development team.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in CSS, Javascript, React.js, Next.js, and HTML, with a strong understanding of web development principles and best practices.
  • Experience with cross-browser compatibility maintenance, ensuring seamless user experience across various browsers and devices.
  • Proficiency in debugging, with a strong understanding of debugging techniques and tools.
  • Experience with responsive design (Mobile first), ensuring that our web applications are optimized for mobile devices.
  • Proficiency in Git, with a strong understanding of version control and collaboration.
  • Experience with unit testing, ensuring that our web applications are thoroughly tested and validated.
  • Experience with web performance optimization, ensuring that our web applications are fast and efficient.
  • Experience implementing front ends using a headless CMS, with a strong understanding of CMS architecture and design.
  • Experience integrating back-end APIs into a front-end design, with a strong understanding of API design and implementation.
  • Experience working with one or more CSS frameworks, with a strong understanding of CSS architecture and design.
  • Experience working with one or more Javascript frameworks, with a strong understanding of Javascript architecture and design.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with DevOps pipelines, with a strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Less or Sass, with a strong understanding of CSS pre-processing and compilation.
  • Experience with feature flags, with a strong understanding of feature flagging and A/B testing.
  • Experience with Bootstrap and Tailwind, with a strong understanding of CSS architecture and design.
  • Experience working with Figma or equivalent tools, with a strong understanding of design tools and software.
  • Experience with Jira, DevOps (or equivalent) for work planning, with a strong understanding of project management and collaboration.
