About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced TB Nurse Specialist to join our Community Tuberculosis (TB) Team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a case manager for a caseload of patients, coordinating and providing care within the community, including visiting patients at home.
  • Maintain proactive and effective partnerships with patients and their families, acting as a patient advocate to ensure their needs are met appropriately.
  • Provide expert nursing care to adult and children infected with and affected by Tuberculosis, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating skills to provide individualized care independently.
  • Support patients in adhering to difficult treatment regimens by assessing and developing strategies to overcome barriers to adherence.
  • Ensure that patients receive high-quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs, and doctrines.
  • Direct, support, encourage, and advise clinical teams by providing specialist knowledge and advice in the care of patients within the area.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • BSc/1st degree/equivalent qualifications or experience
    • Completed or working towards TB Qualification
    • RGN/RN currently on the NMC UK register
  • Desirable:
    • Driving skills
Requirements
  • Good knowledge of TB and related issues, including adherence issues, TB medication, co-infection - HIV & TB, drug resistance
  • Able to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Substantial experience of case management of complex clients
  • Experience in administration of medicines management and support patients both adults and children in adhering to difficult treatment regimens
